An Anorexic Girl- Team Braeden, TeamBraeden
A mother saved her daughter with anorexia by forming TeamBraeden, an eating disorder recovery organization.

TeamBraeden is “an Eating Disorders Assistance Program. The funds we raise go towards helping educate the public as to what eating disorders really are- and what they are not. We also assist with financial help, by way of application process, to cover costs associated with treatment, that insurance does not cover (and there are many).”

The organization began when a concerned mother noticed her daughter kept losing weight. Her 18-year-old child was seeing a Doctor who had helped her to drop a few pounds, but the weight didn’t stop there.

She kept losing and was taken to various Doctors to find out what was happening. Lab test followed lab test and nothing too irregular was coming up. Her parents kept feeding her protein-rich foods and hoping she would eventually gain the weight back.

It was not until her mother hadn’t noticed any change in her daughter’s weight that she contacted her Pediatrician. The results from that visit lead to one conclusion: she was Anorexic.

She was hospitalized two times in order to keep up her weight and nutrient levels. Her mother sleeps next to her every night to make sure that her daughter is still breathing. The local Make-a-Wish chapter also sent her to meet Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw in L.A.

Now on her way to recovery, Brae has graduated from high school and her mother, NP and therapist have formed TeamBraeden, which also includes Doctors, nurses and health care givers.

The organization is new and is still waiting for their 501c3 status. You can read more about them at their official eating disorders website.
