Anorexic model Eliana Ramos, sister of Luisel, has also died of starvation. Eating disorders are cited as the cause of death.
Uruguanian model Luisel Ramos, died last year of complications from anorexia. Her sister Eliana, also an anorexic model, has just been reported dead due to malnutrition. Symptoms of eating disorders are cited as the cause of death.
Only 18 years old, Eliana was found dead in the home she shared with her grandmother earlier this week. “The primary diagnosis is death due to symptoms of malnutrition."
Her grandmother found the dead body of her granddaughter for the second time in less than a year.
"This has happened to me twice,” she cried, “The girl would not wake up. I went into the house and saw her eyes blank and her knees tucked up."
Eliana Ramos was discovered when she was 16 years old by modelling scouts and her career took off from there. But lately she had been losing weight quite rapidly and, it seemed, following in her sister's deadly footsteps as an anorexic model.
Pancho Dotto, the model's boss, has commented, "It is absurd that people are speaking about anorexia or bulimia in this tragic case. She had never had problems with her diet. It is obvious the sisters' deaths must be due to a genetic problem."
Pictures of Eliana Ramos have been circulating on the internet since her death and they show a terrifyingly skinny model with gaunt cheeks and more bones than fat.
Although we can’t speculate whether she was indeed anorexic, it’s pretty clear that she was unhealthy and had symptoms of eating disorders.
As another anorexic model dies of starvation as the casue of death, will the industry ever acknowledge the role it plays in these very young women’s short lives?

Deceptive people who refuse to own up to the part they have played in
Eliana & Luisel's deaths are the culprits driven by the desire to make
lots of money at their expense. Pancho Dotto, one of them, the model
Eliana's boss, has refused to admit the truth because he no doubt
encouraged her to go on down in her body weight. He of all people would
have been only too aware of her body weight. But then to say she had
"never had problems with her diet. It is obvious the sisters' deaths
must be due to a genetic problem" is the answer of an irresponsible
liar. Models who are foolish young women who think their careers fuelled
by promises of wealth and fame from a greedy agent cannot fool their
bodies. This is the reason why these two young models died. Skin and bone
spells not enough food is being taken into the body and with an industry
that is famous for anorexic and bolemic models it is pretty clear what
happened here. The girls are dead so they can no longer speak for
themselves and disclose their diets that led to their untimely deaths. But
photographs of their gaunt figures do not need verbal clarification as
evidence of what path they had chosen to take. Obviously the path of
trying to loss unnecessary pounds resulting in malnutrition. When you have
2 death thin models dying even at an early age (21 and 18) it can only
spell lies, greed, deception, vain ambition coupled with irresponsibility.
Hardly successful modelling careers but a recipe for failure. People
cannot overlook sound nutriton and end up with good results. A foolish
diet does not led to wisdom's rewards but a fool's grave. I'm feel very
sorry for these 2 girls because they believed a lie told to them by agents
who couldn't care less about anything but money overlooking the health of
their employees. Regulations must be enforced in the industry world wide
to protect young impressionable women from greedy agents who only see
dollar signs when they look at these girls. AGNES BENKO Toronto,
